Yeon-Sang Ho made statements about a possible continuation of Hellbound but was uncertain about its future.
Hellbound is one of the recent successful premieres of Netflix. A South Korean science fiction production based on a webtoon (a kind of digital comic popular in that country) with the same name.
Like all fiction on the streaming platform – and without going into spoilers – the end of the first season left several loose ends and open plots for a possible continuation.
While everyone waited for a quick revamp from Netflx, the show’s creator, Yeon sang-ho (also director of Train to Busan), stated in a recent interview that a new as many episodes of the series is linked to a continuation of the original material, that is, the webtoon.

“The process of working with Netflix was very pleasant for me. They strongly agreed and related to my creative vision, but they also created an environment where I didn’t have to think about anything else other than focusing on my creativity in terms of distribution or when or how to launch the series. Because Hellbound is based on the original webtoons, my partner Choi Kyu-Seok and I dWe decided that the story will be told through the webtoon first and as to whether we want to turn that into another live-action series, that’s something we will need more discussion for.”, expressed the director.
At the moment, there has been no news on a confirmed extension of the original Hellbound material, so its continuation will be kept in suspense for a while.
