There are just over three weeks to go until the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Although with each trailer there are more theories and glimpses of the possible appearances of certain characters, there is an aspect that few have thought about. Who will be the real villain (or villain) of Doc Strange 2?
For many fans, the answer is clear: Wanda. From what has been seen from the teaser and even certain dialogues of the character, it can be inferred that she will be the great villain of the film. Reasons she has and to spare: Vision’s death and the loss of her children can be the triggers to bring out her most evil and dark side.
What if he’s the villain of Doc Strange 2 is in front of us, but we still don’t know it?
One theory could lead us to meet the person responsible for unleashing chaos in the multiverse, and that would be Doctor Strange himself. One of the trailers already allows us to see a scene in which Stephen Strange confronts his doppelganger from another dimension. In addition, he assures him that he is the great threat of the multiverse.
Another clue that indicates this twist is the famous scene where Patrick Stewart, who could play one of the Illuminati, seems to believe that Doctor Strange is a threat to everyone. The use of Darkhold, the book capable of granting whoever uses it what he most desires, could be responsible for turning our protagonist into the rival to beat.
We’ve already seen him use spells from the book in various TV spots, and if Scarlet Witch will use black magic, there’s no reason to believe Strange will be any different. At the end of the day, she is a character known for her arrogance, and as we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Homeis capable of endangering several universes just to help a friend.
In an interview for fandango, director Sam Raimi was questioned about the identity of the antagonist in the film. This replied:
“Well, there are variants of our characters throughout the multiverse. So if I said Strange… I shouldn’t be answering this question, but I could say a variant of it. Same with Wanda and Mordo. But I would say, at different times, everyone is.”
Who do you think will be the villain or villain of the film? Will there be as many cameos and surprises as fans expect? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters on May 5 and promises to blow up the box office very Marvel-style.
The entry Who is the real villain of Doctor Strange 2? was first published in Cine PREMIERE.
