It’s official! Lady Gaga confirmed that she will join the cast of Joker 2: Folie a Deux through a teaser promo on his official Twitter account.
The video shows the silhouettes of the characters of Gaga and her co-star Joaquin Phoenix dancing to the rhythm of check to check. As an additional note, the New York singer and Tony Bennett performed a successful cover of this iconic piece for a collaborative album in 2014.
In June it was reported that the co-star of A star Is Born (2019) and Gucci’s house (2021) was in advanced talks to play Harley Quinn in the sequel to joker. A production that, as seems to be confirmed by the teaserwill have the peculiarity of being a musical.
Todd Phillips returns to the director’s chair and once again co-wrote the script with Scott Silver. Title folie a deux —also called shared psychotic disorder— alludes to a syndrome where psychosis is transmitted from one individual to another.
The latest reports of the film suggest the production of Joker 2 could start as early as December of this year, and that the plot would be set inside the Arkham asylum.
The first installment of joker grossed more than $1 billion at the box office worldwide and won prestigious accolades such as the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and a pair of Oscars: Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Original Music for Hildur Guðnadóttir.
