The internet vs Chris Pratt: James Gunn comes to the defense of the actor

For a couple of years many have raised their eyebrows in relation to the protagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy. After his alleged political and religious affiliations were revealed, the internet decided to turn him into a person non grata, without this having affected his career in a real way. Chris Pratt is preparing to release the end of the Jurassic saga and will also return to the command of James Gunn for the third installment of Marvel’s guardians.

However, the crusade of the fans against the actor does not stop. Reason why the filmmaker has taken his own space on the network to defend him from “false accusations.” After a Twitter user launched a petition to Marvel to replace him from his future projects (proposing Patrick Wilson), Gunn responded with obvious annoyance:

“Why? Because of your invented and completely false beliefs about him? Because of something someone else told you about him that isn’t true? Chris Pratt will never be replaced as Star Lord and if he does, we will all go with him.”

Another user then questioned Gunn. He asked if he was okay with Pratt being part of a homophobic church. Or if he did not care so much because the actor generated income for him as a director.

“I know the church you currently attend. Do you? The answer is no, but you heard it from someone who heard it from someone who heard it from someone who goes to church, so he decided, “yeah, okay, I’ll believe the terrible thing I heard online about this celebrity.”

Pratt belongs to a Christian congregation that has been consistently singled out as an organization that spreads hate against the LGBT community. During 2019 the actor Elliot Page noted that the religious community to which Pratt belongs is one of the most homophobic in the United States. Pratt answered later via Instagram that «Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that opens its doors to absolutely everyone.”.

Later the cast of the Avengers gathered to support a fundraiser for Joe Biden’s campaign for the presidency of the United States. Almost every member of the Marvel cast was up for it, except for Pratt. Automatically the internet assumed that the actor was a defender of Donald Trump.

The rumors were accentuated when Internet users discovered that the actor was following on social networks a bill a bit awkward. This openly supported anti-abortion, Donald Trump and condemned the Black Lives Matter movement. Since then Chris Pratt has remained in the public eye, despite director James Gunn‘s defenses.

Either way Chris Pratt will premiere this year Jurassic World Dominion and at the moment it is still part of the Marvel family. Will we see any changes in the recent future?

The entry The internet vs Chris Pratt: James Gunn comes to the actor’s defense was first published in Cine PREMIERE.
