We are a few weeks away from the premiere of the fourth season of stranger things. Although there are still many adventures to go before reaching the definitive end of the series, its creators, the Duffer brothers, are already thinking about what can come after the farewell. Is there a chance to see a spin off from stranger things?
In an interview for sfxmagazinethe duo talked about what we can expect in the final seasons, especially how fans of the series might feel with the last episodes and the goodbye of the characters.
“Even with a fifth (season), it’s going to feel like we’re ending pretty soon. Let’s feel like we still have a lot to give. But I think it’s better to end with everyone wanting more. So finishing fifth felt like the right move.”
The truth is that we cannot criticize his decision. After three extremely successful seasons and well received by critics and audiences, the best decision is to close the story in style and not ruin the expectations of the fans with very disappointing decisions (cough, cough… game of Thrones). The idea of the Duffers is to preserve the legacy of the series and leave fans with a very good taste in their mouths.
will we see any spin off from stranger things?
Like any good story, there is always the possibility of continuing to exploit events even without the characters that started it all. When the creators were asked if there was a chance that stranger things had a spin-off, this was answered:
“We haven’t told anyone our plans! Not even Netflix! We have some ideas. If we wanted to do something spin off or some continuation of stranger thingsour parameter would always be: “Is the idea exciting enough to do this again?”.
The key for us is that it should feel like its own distinct thing, not like we’re remaking something that’s already there, what would be the point of that? I think we have something that could be very exciting. So we’ll see.”
