Batman 2, the sequel to the most recent film installment of the Dark Knight, was confirmed by Warner Bros during its presentation at the CinemaCon event on Tuesday, April 26. After the success (with critics and the public) of the character’s dark interpretation, it is not so surprising that the sequel has been confirmed.
Both Matt Reeves (director) and Robert Pattinson had already expressed interest in making the sequel. Even Pattinson had declared that he had already thought about what he would like to see happen with the character in the future. After all, let’s remember that final scene where we see Barry Keoghan as the Joker.
So, on the afternoon of April 26, during the Warner Bros presentation at the CinemaCon convention for exhibitors, Warner confirmed that work is already underway on The Batman 2.. As reported ScreenRantMatt Reeves was at the event and said he was “excited to be back in this world.”
As expected too, an official title or release date has not yet been released. We will have to wait to see how the times are accommodated with respect to the series spinoff that HBO Max is already preparing.
However, the version of Gotham City that Reeves introduced us to in his film offers plenty of storytelling opportunities. Could it be that Reeves decides not to use Joker? We know that the director has toyed with the idea of including Robin. Or even he might decide to use characters we haven’t seen in movies yet.
Time will tell which direction this project goes. For now, we will keep an eye out for when an official title is revealed and the start of production. In the meantime, you can read our entire coverage of the film batman in this link.
The entry The Batman 2 confirmed: Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves will return was published first in Cinema PREMIERE.
