Quentin Tarantino would return to television with series sequel to Justified

The world was waiting for news about the next film – supposedly the last – of the bad boy of Hollywood. However, before that, reports arrive of an upcoming television project in which the acclaimed filmmaker could be involved. According to dead line, Quentin Tarantino holds first talks to direct “one or two episodes” of the sequel series of justifiedFX’s acclaimed crime drama.

The show justified had its TV run between 2010 and 2015. It follows the story of Raylan Givens, a Miami sheriff in modern times, albeit with an Old West flair when it comes to law enforcement. He is a ruthless gunslinger in the 21st century, where (according to him) his unorthodox methods are “justified”. However, after shooting a mobster to death, Givens is relocated to a county in Kentucky, where he is from and where he hoped never to return.

Throughout its six seasons, justified received constant applause from critics. She even deserved two acting Emmy Awards, out of a total of eight nominations. Its undeniable popularity is linked to the fact that last month, FX gave the green light to a miniseries that will serve as a sequel to that original show, under the title Justified: City Primeval. And if the fans were already excited, what will they think of having a legend like Quentin Tarantino in the directing chair?

It should be reiterated that Tarantino just started negotiations to join the project, so we still cannot confirm his participation. However, it seems only natural that the Oscar winner is part of the family justified. For starters, he comes from working with the star of the show, Timothy Olyphantin the movie once upon a time in hollywood (2019). But more importantly: Tarantino is a big fan of the novelist Elmore Leonard, creator of Sheriff Raylan Givens in the literary field and responsible for several stories that the filmmaker wanted to adapt. For example, Jackie Brown (1997) is inspired by the book Rum Punch by Leonard.

of directing Justified: City Primeval, Quentin Tarantino would be returning to television after fifteen years of absence. His last credits as director of the small screen consist of two episodes of ITUC in 2005.

Justified: City Primeval will be based on another work by Elmore Leonard (City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit) but will replace the original lead with Givens, again played by Timothy Olyphant. The actor will also be an executive producer, together with the creator of the original series, Graham Yost, and the showrunners Dave Andron and Michael Dinner.

According to dead linea synopsis dictates the following:

“The show returns to Givens’ story, eight years after he left Kentucky. He now resides in Miami, balancing his life as a sheriff and a part-time father to a 14-year-old girl. A chance encounter on a Florida highway sends him to Detroit and he crosses paths with Clement Mansell aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent sociopath who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s best once. And he intends to do it again ».

The upcoming miniseries does not yet have a release date.

Quentin Tarantino’s entry would return to television with sequel series of Justified was published first in Cinema PREMIERE.
