Warner Bros Discovery ad officially that HBO Max and Discovery Plus will be united in a single platform of streaming scheduled to launch in the summer of 2023 in the United States. The platform whose name is yet to be determined would arrive later in 2023 in Latin America, followed by Europe and other international markets in 2024.
The news was released by company executives this afternoon during the second quarterly report of this 2022. Warner Bros. Discovery had previously anticipated its intentions to create a unified platform with all the content of HBO, Warner Bros. and Discovery+. The three combined have 92.1 million subscribers worldwide.
David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, added that after its new service is established, the company will also have an ad-supported free option.
“Regarding streaming, our top priority right now is to launch an integrated subscription SVOD service,” said David Zaslav. “Our streaming strategy has evolved over the past year and really reflects the importance, rather than reliance, on this segment of our global content monetization plan.”
“Once our SVOD service is firmly established in the market, we see real potential and are exploring the opportunity for a third-party offering. streaming free with advertising that would give consumers who do not want to pay a subscription fee access to great library content, while at the same time serving as an entry point to our premium service, “he added.
