It was early last year when it was confirmed that Timothée Chalamet would play a young version of Willy Wonka. Since then the buzz of the actor and the love that exists for the character made this upcoming project one of the most anticipated. Naturally, the big question is how the protagonist of Call me by your name will be up to the task, when there are two iconic versions embodied by Johnny Depp and Billy Wilder.
The answer came quickly with a picture of the actor in the set. The first official photograph showed the actor barely in the character’s clothing behind the scenes with fake snow – or so we assume – falling around him. However, this advancement happened in May 2021 and since that date we had known nothing more about the making of the project.
Now, new images appear on the network, which extend that first glimpse of the character. Although the photographs are not entirely official, they are curious and interesting because they also show a bit of the set where the movie is filmed.
Also, something that many have highlighted in social media posts is the actor’s facial expressions. Most fans say Timothée Chalamet’s performance is full Willy Wonka. And the reality is that we couldn’t be more excited.

Filming officially began in September last year, with locations in London and Oxford. Although mainly most of the filming has taken place in the Warner studios located in Leavesden. This new film will be based on the novel by the British Roald Dahl, originally published in 1964 and later adapted to various media. The film that Warner has as director the filmmaker Paul King, maker of the belovedPaddingtonand its acclaimed sequel. The script was configured by himself in collaboration with Simon Farnaby, although the text was previously touched on by various names such as Jeff Nathanson and Steven Levenson.
David Heyman is the producer behind the project, the man best known for bringing the saga to cinematographic life.Harry Potter. And perhaps because of his recognition, Wonka has a spectacular cast. In addition to Chalamet, the film will feature Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Keegan-Michael Key and Matt Lucas.
The wonka by Timothée Chalamet is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
