Netflix has announced that his first big Russian drama series, Anna K, is being filmed.
Filming on Leo Tolstoy’s famous book Anna Karenina started early this week on the Russian Original, a modern re-telling.
As Anna Karenina starring Svetlana Khodchenkova (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is in the film series Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. This series is set in contemporary Russia, where socialist Anna Karenina, the wife of St Petersburg’s soon-to-be governor, begins a life-changing love affair with Vronsky, the shambles they’re to an imperial aluminum empire. Their affairs are soon out of control, jeopardizing the delicate balance between family ties and social connections.
During a series Mania panel on the European development of the streamer, Anna Nagler, Director of Local Language Originals, CEE, Russia, and Poland announced the commencement of production.
The audience heard that by 2020, Netflix’s non-English content quadrupled compared to 2019.
Larry Tanz, Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa of the Original Series stated that today’s streamer’s office in Stockholm opened. The Netflix openings followed this earlier this summer in Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Istanbul, London, and Berlin.
Tanz acknowledged the increasing strength of local programming and now said that the streamer dubs in 34 languages and 37 subtitles.
Damien Couvreur, French Series Vice President, pointed out that in 2021 the Streamer would release 27 films and series from France. Call My Agent creator Fanny Herrero’s next program, Drole, a comedy club in Paris, and the drug-global action crime series Braquers (Ganglands), based on a film with the same name are among its future attractions.
Couvreur stated that talent would be the greatest difficulty to sustain its rate of growth: “Talent will be crucial. You must have the skill to compose these tales and produce them. That’s why we’re committed to nurturing the next talent wave.”
Tanz added: “We must continuously please our audience and members,” adding that the number of new members from various areas of the globe meant the duty for producing material to represent the members.
