Ethan Hunt is an expert at descending from heights on a suspended cable; or climbing dangerous cliffs on a sunny afternoon; or overthrowing complex terrorist organizations. However, it seems that his great ultimate nemesis is the coronavirus pandemic and its many consequences. This because the next deliveries of Mission Impossible have been delayed (again) in their release dates.
We still remember precisely how the next installment of this saga was, the first to face the problem that the pandemic posed for the industry. During the year 2020, the filming of Mission Impossible 7 It was the first to bravely announce that it would stop production due to the risk of an increasingly overwhelming chain of infections. Later other productions followed the example of Tom Cruise and company until practically the industry hollywood had to stop dead.
Now, probably as a sequel to the new wave of infections by Omicron, Paramount has made public that its star saga will see a new delay. The fifth to be exact. Mission Impossible 7 It will hit theaters on July 14, 2023. In turn, the eighth installment was scheduled for June 28, 2024. This is what the studio spokesmen said:
“After careful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023 and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience.”
The seventh installment of the saga was originally scheduled to hit the cinema on September 30, 2022. Prior to that, it held the dates of May 27, 2022; November 19, 2021; and July 23, 2021. The latter was its initial date long before the film delays began.
As a consequence, the eighth installment already planned since then also underwent changes. The good news is that between movie number seven and number eight there will only be about a year difference.
Although Paramount no longer confirmed the following, according to I.W. all other studio releases also underwent changes to their opening dates. Among them the third installment of a silent place and the reboot of the transformers. The first will arrive on September 23, 2023, while the second on July 28, 2024.
The delayed and upcoming deliveries of Mission Impossible They will feature the usual cast of the saga, with Tom Cruise at the helm. Both directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also sat in the directing chair during the fifth and sixth. This means that we can expect great action sequences, with the leading actor at the forefront of risky situations and surely with scenes filmed with IMAX cameras. We will find out until 2023.
The entry Mission Impossible 7 and 8 are delayed (again) to 2023 and 2024 was published first in Cinema PREMIERE.
