Light years have passed since the premiere of Toy story in movie theaters. To show a whole series of successful films, but also proof that nothing is an impediment to Pixar in creative terms. This is demonstrated by the first trailer of Lightyear, the new animated film from the studio that pretends to tell Buzz’s origin story, the human astronaut who somehow inspired the creation of the toy that drove Andy crazy for a while.
To be clear, this upcoming Pixar movie has nothing to do with toys. There will be no Andy involved here, nor will the likeable Woody. The new Disney adventure is clear that there is a whole world of licenses to be explored. Buzz Lightyear is undoubtedly the right character who will allow the creation of a new film with action and science fiction overtones with the leading voice of none other than actor Chris Evans.
At least the first trailer reminds us a bit of those moments in space that we knew thanks to Wall-E, but at the same time it looks more like something very independent that perhaps we had never seen with a Pixar movie. Without much dialogue, the trailer shows the details that the astronaut of the title will live in space with his companions of the Space Command. In fact it all sounds a bit similar to Star trek.
The arrival of the trailer was accompanied by the same reactions from Chris Evans. The former Captain America shared his excitement for the project, especially that personal affinity he has for animated projects.
I’m full of chills. And I will always be every time I see this trailer, or hear a Bowie song, or have any thoughts between July and now because nothing has ever made me feel so happy and grateful than knowing that I am part of this project. I will keep it in my head forever.
“The phrase ‘a dream come true’ is used a lot, but it has never meant so much in my life,” Evans continued. “Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe I can be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories like no one else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.
