JK Simmons talks about his return to the world of Spider-Man

With the imminent release of No way home, all the attention has been focused on Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, but no one has really stopped to ask JK Simmons which character he will play in Spider-Man. The correct answer, of course, is James Jonah Jameson, the headline mogul of New York’s most famous newspaper. But, is it perhaps the same character we met in the Sam Raimi trilogy?

If we remember, perhaps the first character we saw appear directly from the coffers of the multiverse, was Simmons’ Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home. During the first post-credit scene, we were already warned that we would see some familiar faces return, but we never imagined the true importance of all this until a few months ago.

Later when it was confirmed that actors like Alfred Molina, or Willem Dafoe would return to play the classic villains of the Sam Raimi trilogy, practically all the attention was focused on all of them. Not to mention that incessant theory starring Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. However, seeing them return is not the last answer and we still have to understand if the characters that we will see soon on the big screen will be exactly the same, or just a “variant” played by the same actors.

While all that bunch of actors remain almost a secret, no one had thought to ask the person who perhaps is more involved in this plan for longer than anyone. Luckily for the podcast hosts Happy sad confused their arachnid sense was enlightened, so they tried to get information from Simmons about the next Spider-man.

When asked if his character in the new movie will be exactly the same one we met a few years ago under the yoke of Sam Raimi, this is what he replied:

“I think he’s a slightly different version, certainly for the creators of this current version of the story, he’s a very different character. For me, he is a slightly different character. He’s the same braggart, the same guy with less hair, and honestly, I wish he still had the same hair, but I think the first time they asked me to do it, I guess it was a late decision on their part because once they came and they asked me to do it, it was like, ‘Let’s sit down, let’s have a meeting with all the big guys like Sony and let’s talk about it’ and, ‘Yeah, okay’ and, ‘Bang, bang, bang, the deal it’s done and, you know, we’re going to film the day after tomorrow, and no, we don’t want you to cut your hair flat, ‘and I was like’ wait, wait, wait what? ‘,’ Yeah, no We want the cigarette, not the mustache and the blah, blah, blah, ‘and I was like,’ But that’s what kind of does the guy, you know? ‘ «.

Although Simmons answered a bit like Pinocchio in Shrek 3, at least for now we know that for the people behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, the J. Jonah Jameson that we will see in the film, is not exactly the same. This ties in directly with the fact analyzed by fans that Jamie Foxx’s Electro is also a different version of the character configured by Marc Webb in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In his suit it can be seen that he is powered by an arc reactor very similar to the one created by Tony Stark.

On the other hand, a new promotional spot for the film has shown an unpublished scene. It is about the encounter between Doctor Strange and Doctor Octopus. In this sequence, Strange asks the villain if the Peter Parker he meets is the same as the one in front of him and he denies when he sees Tom Holland’s Peter. Internet users already assure that this is yet another step in the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and would show that we are facing a crossroads of multiple characters and actors who may not be as we knew them in the past.

Spider-Man: No Way Home It will debut in Mexican theaters on December 15. You can see the aforementioned TV Spot below.

The entry JK Simmons talks about his return to the world of Spider-Man was first published in Cinema PREMIERE.
