HBO Max prepares prequel series of It (Eso)

2019 marked the last time we saw Pennywise the Dancing Clown on the big screen. Fortunately, it seems that we will not have to wait another 27 years to see him return in a new adaptation, as HBO Max is developing Welcome To Derry a prequel to It (That) in serial format.

Said project will be set in the universe of the films released in 2017 and 2019, so do not expect references to the version starring Tim Curry. On welcome to derry, When several children begin to disappear in the city of Derry, Maine, another group of children will challenge their worst fears when they face Pennywise, a killer clown.

The events of this series will lead to what we saw in It (That), where the so-called “Losers Club” faced Pennywise for the first time. In this film, the character of Ben Hanscom already referred to terrifying events in Derry’s past. There was talk that some evil presence had caused tragedies, disappearances and deaths. Will we finally be able to see any of these events, as well as the true origin of It?

Andy Muschietti, who directed the most recent films of Item, will serve as executive producer alongside his sister Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. According to what is known, Andy Muschietti and Fuchs developed the story to present the project, while the latter will be in charge of the scripts. Although the project is not greenlit yet, Andy is expected to direct the first episode.

Will Bill Skarsgård return as Pennywise in the prequel? It (That)?

Although there are no casting details yet, it is obvious that we will see Pennywise on screen again. Will Bill Skarsgård put on the red wig and big shoes again or will we see a recall of the character?

When in 2020 you will I ask to the actor about the possibility of playing the clown again, this is what he commented:

“Of course. We’ve talked about it since we started making the first (movie). They were like: Is there potential for a third? How would it be? If we do a prequel, it would be something really different. We have some ideas that we’ve talked about, like going back to the 19th century or something.”

The movies of It (That) They were a real success. chapter one (2017) received critical acclaim and grossed $700 million at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing horror film in history. Chapter Two (2019) received mixed reviews, but also became a hit, earning over $473 million worldwide.

Are you excited about this prequel or do you think it’s time to put this franchise to rest?
