Goodbye forever? James McAvoy Charles Xavier no stranger to

Iron Man said well that part of the journey is the end. Although of course, the omnipotence of Marvel Studios has allowed the closure of cycles to be postponed —ten years to reach Avengers: Endgame— or even revive sagas we thought were extinct, right, Spider-Man? It is thanks to the multiverse that various past characters and narrative arcs (originally outside the MCU) can resurface within the multi-billion dollar franchise. It already happened with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. But sadly, James McAvoy he does not intend to do the same with his version of Charles Xavier.

In 2011, the Scottish actor ventured into the superhero genre through X Men First generation. There, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender brought to life the young Charles Xavier (aka Professor X) and Erik Lehnsherr (aka Magneto), respectively. From there, three other films would come – over eight years – that would consolidate McAvoy’s popularity in the shoes of the mutant leader. But would he want to return to his telepathic persona after the disastrous Dark Phoenix?

Through a recent Instagram Live, the BAFTA nominee was extremely blunt about it. When asked by a fan if he missed playing Xavier, McAvoy responded: “No I dont think so”without giving it too much thought (via comic book).

If he were serious, the actor would be exhibiting little willingness to get involved again in a project about (or related to) the X-Men. And there is nothing hypothetical there! After taking over the properties of 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios obviously has its eyes on a mutant saga for its coming phases. But also, it is due to the emerging multiverse that the House of Ideas could easily turn to the same characters from the movies of the “Fox-Verse”.

For example, it is already a fact that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness we’ll see McAvoy’s predecessor. That is, the veteran Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier; a role that he played from X Men from 2000 to Logan of 2017. Rumored cameos would be added to this signing, including that of an unpublished version of Mr. Fantastic —played by John Krasinski— and that of Deadpool.

Now, whether he participates in the aftermath of the Sorcerer Supreme, James McAvoy it was also very concrete. “No,” he stressed him in the same Instagram Live. Or perhaps he will he applied the letter “Andrew Garfield” of “I know nothing”?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on May 6, 2022Under the direction of Sam Raimi. The principal cast is composed Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Xochitl Gomez, Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong.

The entry Goodbye forever? James McAvoy Doesn’t Miss Charles Xavier was first published in Cinema PREMIERE.
