[ad_1]

The Morales cousins are back. The actress, producer and director America Ferrara and an entourage of filmmakers also return to re-introduce us to the world of Peoplefied, the series about a Latin neighborhood in Los Angeles always threatened by gentrification. The second season arrives this month in the Netflix catalog to continue exploring topics such as immigration, identity, inequality and, of course, generational conflicts.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is to stay together. Gentefied returns on November 10th ».

What is it about?

Created by Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, Peoplefied tells the story of three cousins who come together to keep their grandfather’s popular taqueria in business as the neighborhood gentrifies. During the first season of Show, cousins confront their differences, their heritage, their community connections, and their commitment to the family business, all while navigating the broader themes of the gentrification and marginalization of Latinos in the United States (via).

The synopsis of the second season anticipates that one of the guests within the series will be the singer Bad bunny (Narcos: Mexico 3):

«In this new season, Morales’s cousins fight alongside Pop in his arduous battle to stay in the country, all while dealing with a new love, new babies, separated parents and, of course, finding Bad Bunny at a party of Halloween. They will fight to prosper, but along the way they will wonder where they really belong in a world made up of borders, family separation, and the possible loss of their beloved taqueria, Mama Fina’s. Because what is life without free tacos? ».

Distribution

Peoplefied features performances by Joseph Julian Soria (Erik Morales), Karrie Martin (Ana Morales), Carlos Santos (Chris Morales), Alma Martínez (Lupe), Annie Gonzalez (Lidia Solis), Julissa Calderon (Yessika Castillo), Alejandro Patiño ( Chuey), Brenda Banda (Norma) and the prominence of the Mexican Joaquin Cosío as Casimiro ‘Pop’ Morales.

Joaquín Cosío spoke with the EFE Agency on the thematic importance of Peoplefied and, in addition, he confessed that it seems that Pop, his character, was written for his father. Let us remember that the Mexican histrion was born in Tepic, Nayarit, but developed in a border context between Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and El Paso, Texas (USA).

«It portrays a way of life of a sector that is not always visible […] of the legal rejection by a country for you to enter, which implies not having papers to work and to be able to live, all that is in Gentefied ”, he said. «It seems that they wrote the history of Pop to my father. He is an immigrant and he was an immediate reference for me when he played Casimiro. My father has been in the United States for 50 years and he doesn’t speak English very well, like Pop, ”Cosío explained about his character.
