Game of Thrones actor takes Brad Pitt’s place in Interview with the Vampire

AMC’s Interview with the Vampire TV series has reportedly found its new leading man. Game of Thrones’ Jacob Anderson, who portrayed Grey Worm on the HBO fantasy series, is set to play Louis de Pointe du Lac, the character that was played by Brad Pitt in the 1994 film. The horror series will see Anderson’s Louis get ushered into the world of vampires by Lestat, played by Hatfields & McCoys alum Sam Reid.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Interview with the Vampire will allow Jacob Anderson to reteam with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, who is said to be directing the first two episodes of the new series. The show is based on the gothic horror novel by Anne Rice, which was first published in 1976 and was followed by multiple sequels. All of the books make up the series known as The Vampire Chronicles. The series would arguably achieve greater recognition with the release of the 1994 movie, which saw Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise play blood-sucking vampires.

Besides Game of Thrones, Jacob Anderson has had a pretty impressive career. He’s appeared in shows such as The Mimic, Skins, Broadchurch and Saturday Night Live. He’s also had roles in films like Adulthood, Demons Never Die and Overlord. And in his spare time, he’s also a Columbia recording artist and has released two albums, the most recent being 2020’s Andy via Alacran Records.

Interview with the Vampire has received an eight-episode order for its first season and is currently set to begin production later this year. The adaption will premiere on AMC as well as AMC+ in 2022, though an exact date has not been given, as of this writing. While the roles of Louis and Lestat have been cast, there is currently no news regarding who will portray Armand or Santiago, who were originally played on the big screen by Antonio Banderas and Stephen Rea, respectively.
