Farewell to the Lasso of Truth. The Wonder Woman interpreter, far from all virtuosity, will personify one of the most deceptive and sinister characters in the Disney universe. According to latest reports, Gal gadot will be the Evil Queen in the upcoming movie live-action that will reinvent Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. This project joins the list (increasingly extensive) of remakes of the House of the Mouse that are based on animated classics. Special case that of Snow White, since its original material is also the very first animated feature film of the Disney brand.
According to Deadline, Gal Gadot is in final talks to play the villain of the remake Snow White, whose production will begin in 2022. The same media claims that Disney’s top executives always wanted the Israeli actor to play the Evil Queen in the film. From the start, even Gadot would have expressed interest in following the example of Cate Blanchett (Cinderella) and Angelina Jolie (Maleficent) regarding putting yourself in the shoes of some famous antagonist from the animated world of the House of the Mouse.
While Gadot’s signing has yet to be officially announced, there is certainly already a guaranteed name within the cast. In mid-2021, we learned that the rising star Rachel zegler would be responsible for playing the iconic Snow White in the live-action. Before, the film debut of this 20-year-old actress is still pending, through the novel musical adaptation West Side Story. This Steven Spielberg film will hit theaters on December 10.
As for the remake Snow White, the filmmaker Marc webb has been on board to direct it since 2019. The script is provided by Erin cressida wilson (The girl on the train), while the lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin paul they will write new songs for the movie. Let us remember that this duo has been nominated three times for the Oscar for Best Original Song and triumphed in 2017 thanks to “City of Stars” by La La Land. They both equally worked on the musical The Great Showman and in the remake Aladdin of 2019.
We will see Gal Gadot this month at Red alert, a Netflix action and comedy film where, curiously, it also assumes an antagonistic role. He is joined in the cast by Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, while Rawson Marshall Thurber (Skyscraper: Rescue from the Heights) is on the executive chair.
This red “N” ribbon will hit your catalog on November 12th.
The entry Gal Gadot to be the Evil Queen in Snow White’s live-action film was first published in Cinema PREMIERE.
