Although it started with great doubts for being a spin-off of breaking bad, this series has become one of the favorites by the audience. After years of waiting, delays and drama behind the scenes, this April 18 we will finally be able to see the premiere of season 6 of Better Call Saul.

From cartel to courthouse and from Albuquerque to Omaha, Season 6 follows Jimmy, Saul and Gene, as well as Odenkirk’s character’s complex relationship with Kim Wexler, who finds herself in the midst of her own existential crisis. Meanwhile, Mike, Gus, Nacho and Lalo are trapped in a game of cat and mouse with deadly stakes.

The cast of the series

Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehor, Patrick Fabian, Giancarlo Esposito and Tony Dalton return as characters from previous seasons. Since this is the final season, many fans of the story began to question whether Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul (stars of breaking bad) were going to have some kind of involvement in the series.

The production

Although season 6 of Better Call Saul It was announced since January 2020, production was slow to start due to the pandemic. It was first announced that filming would start in September 2020, but conditions did not allow it. In March 2021, work officially resumed.

Everything went in apparent calm until on July 27, 2021, Bob Odenkirk, protagonist of the series, fainted on set and was rushed to the hospital. He suffered a heart attack that, fortunately, did not escalate. During his recovery, all the scenes that did not involve the actor’s presence were recorded.

Due to the fact that the filming extended until February 2022, the decision was made to divide this last season into two parts. The first episodes will air from April 18 to May 23. The second part of the season will begin on July 11, therefore the grand finale of the series will air on August 15.

In an interview for EmpireBob Odenkirk discussed the challenges of filming this season and what we can expect:

“I’m just trying not to get Covid, show up and do a great job with this amazing ending. It is a powerful, surprising, subtle and understated piece that has been written with the utmost integrity by Peter Gould. [co-creador] and the writing team. I can’t wait for people to see this final season. There are so many places he’s going, and there’s so much going on. It’s amazing”.
