For Apple TV + the universe of great monsters that throw powerful punches at each other, has undoubtedly moved them to the point of carrying out a series spinoff about the world of Godzilla, Kong and company. Despite the fact that so far Legendary’s so-called “monsterverse” is a franchise under construction that monopolizes movie screens, it seems that there are stories within that bubble that could be told on television.
Apple TV made the announcement (via) through a statement in which he suggested that he would have won the rights to this upcoming Show of TV. In alliance with Legendary, a series of episodes will be created that will follow the details of a family that has discovered to have a special and terrifying connection with a secret government organization. Or so an early synopsis reveals:
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that swept through San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters exist, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover their buried secrets and a legacy that links them to the secret organization known as Monarch. .
s-seriespin off of Godzilla and Apple TV+ will be produced by Legendary Television along with co-creators Chris Black (Star Trek Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (hawk eye). Other names in the mix include Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Aritam, who along with Godzilla owner Toho will serve as executive producers for the show.
Obviously the plot of the series will be contained within the same narrative level of existence as the movies. Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of Monsters Y Godzilla vs Kong. In these Monarch is a covert government organization that for decades has studied the existence of great monsters and titans on planet Earth.
Are we likely to see some characters return? Maybe. At the moment this project does not have defined details, much less any cast in sight. However, it quickly stands as an audiovisual with enviable potential for a platform streaming which is hardly among the most successful.
A potential that only last year was reflected in the box offices agonizing due to the pandemic, which received a little encouragement thanks to the clash of titans created by Adam Wingard. Godzilla vs Kong he harvested just under 500 million greenbacks worldwide and became one of the sensations of the pandemic.
On the other hand, a big question remains: Why Apple TV and not HBO Max? Although Legendary has an agreement with Warner for the cinematic construction of the monsterverse, it seems that the company plans to expand its borders and take the great titans through many and varied licenses.
The Serie spin off of Godzilla and his friends does not yet have a release date on Apple TV.
The entry Apple TV + will premiere Godzilla series and the monsterverse was published first in Cinema PREMIERE.
