Amazon is already working on the reboot series of Cruel Intentions

Any moviegoer – and not moviegoer – who grew up during the nineties undoubtedly remembers a movie that for many even represents that “sexual awakening” that movies and television can mean for the unwary adolescent. Of course we refer to Cruel Intentions, a film that has now become something close to cult cinema and that is about to be revitalized for the new generations, now with a reboot configured for the format of a television series.

Amazon through its subsidiary IMDb TV, is behind all this. Supposedly the series will be a remake of the same story, rather than a direct continuation or an “in” inspired story. Thus, the series of Cruel intentions will tell the story of two stepbrothers of a wealthy social and economic status who will do everything possible to maintain a high profile and status, in an exclusive university in the city of Washington.

In the original film the duo is played Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Philippe. His ruthless plans, which are carried out for various purposes, ranged from generating gossip among his peers, deceiving his teachers, and even ducking the innocent daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair completed the iconic cast of the 1990s film.

The new series at the moment is promised and its development in the earliest stages. Neal Moritz was one of the original and creative producers of the film, and thus far he is the only person to be part of the series’ team. On the other hand, Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman will team up to set up the scripts for each episode. Both also have the update of I know what you did last summer for Amazon in their hands.

Of course, the series still does not have a release date, or an apparent cast. Details will be raised as the project progresses, as well as the way in which the serial will be broadcast. IMDb TV was launched in January 2019 and by now it already has a whole catalog of originals that are not at all inestimable, such as Alex Rider and the series High school inspired by Tegan and Sara from Clea DuVall.

The original Cruel intentions It was released in 1999 and was directed by Roger Kumble, and based on the novel The Dangerous Friendships by the writer Choderlos de Laclos. The film was a great success for which it had two sequels, one released in 2000 and another in 2004. Neither of them with the cast of the original film.

The entry Amazon already works on the Cruel Intentions reboot series was first published in Cinema PREMIERE.
